Gang’s all here! It was a family affair for Matthew McConaughey at the 28th American Cinematheque Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The Oscar winner, who was being honored at the star-studded event, hit The Beverly Hilton Hotel with a whole brood of family members. McConaughey, 44, received the American Cinematheque Award for the work he has done in his 21-year career, beginning with his breakout role in 1993’s Dazed and Confused.
Dressed in a dapper black tuxedo with a black bow tie, the actor was surrounded by loved ones to fête his success. He brought his mother Kay McConaughey and her date C.J. Carlig, his wife Camila Alves and her mother Fatima Alves, and two of his three children.
While McConaughey’s youngest tyke Livingston, 22 months, was noticeably absent from the party, his two older children, Levi, 6, and Vida, 4, were dressed in their formal wear to celebrate their father.
Little Levi mirrored his father’s style in a black tuxedo with a black bow tie, while his sister Vida looked adorable in a champagne-colored dress with lace accents and a matching collared coat. Their mother Alves, 32, wore a beautiful long-sleeved black dress with lace panels. See more adorable photos of the family.
McConaughey’s gorgeous 83-year-old mother looked stunning in a sleeved, sequined gold dress, and gushed to Us Weekly exclusively about her son at awards event.
“I’m so happy I’m beaming!” she told Us, “This year has been exciting for me to see him go through this knowing he’s earned it — he’s worked hard and people don’t always get rewarded but he has. It’s nice to see him getting rewarded for what he does so well.”

Explaining that she feels “so blessed” to be a grandmother and spend time with McConaughey’s children, Kay added that her favorite movie of her son’s is the 2011 drama The Lincoln Lawyer because she “loved how he rode around in that Lincoln, solving problems, and it was just so cool.”
McConaughey himself could not pinpoint a film in the same way that his mother could.
“I could point out ten that I absolutely loved, what I learned from them, what they did for me,” the Interstellar star told Us Weekly of his past projects. “Nothing could be like the very first one, Dazed and Confused — I’ve got stories about every one though honestly!”
